What's New

7 December, 2005

After finding out an elegant way to use SpamAssassin as a filter on a POP3 proxy (using DeleGate), I looked around to see if anyone else had done the same. I didn't seem to be able to find anything, so I put together a description of what I did: Using DeleGate as a SpamAssassin POP3 Proxy.

Well it took a while, but I finally got round to finishing off the Ireland mini-site detailing Althea and my trip round there a few weeks ago.

13 March, 2005

Added a page to start collating my recipes -- this will only be for ones that I've derived myself, not for anything found elsewhere on the web.

2 August, 2004

A couple of new pages (well sub-sites really) to mention. Firstly there's the Accessible Odeon (reloaded) site. Secondly, there's a mirror of the Preparing For Emergencies spoof.

For more information on both of these, please take a look at my blog commentary page.

29 February, 2004

Apologies for anyone who tried to access the site in the last couple of hours. For some unknown reason the entire content of my site vanished at some point early Saturday morning or Friday night. My ISP have yet to give me an explanation as to what happened, but I'll be following it up for sure. I've restored the site from a recent backup, so I don't think much (anything) important has been lost.

21 February, 2004

I've decided I'll make a stand and that this site will be joining in the Grey Tuesday protest. This means that I will be hosting mp3s of DJ Danger Mouse's Grey Album in direct contravention of EMI's lawyers. For more information and the background to the whole ridiculous situation please see the link above.

27 November, 2003

Following on from some brief discussions on the Ixion mailing list and on IRCnet channel #dl-bar, I seem to have written a quick page to automatically generate tinyurl.com URLs. And from looking at the server logs, it seems to be incredibly popular!

10 November, 2003

I've finally finishied compiling a list I've been working on for some time. It's the text of all the main books available in Neverwinter Nights (one of my favourite games). The books aren't important for gameplay or plot, rather they simply add atmosphere and realism to the whole Forgotten Realms AD&D world in which the game is firmly based. The Books of Neverwinter Nights.

The original author of the Matrix Reloaded analysis got in touch with me! So I've updated that document to reflect that and to link to the copy that he's now managed to get online, too.

16 August, 2003

I made a change to the way the blog general page displays -- each entry can now be viewed individually, with a permanent unique URI, as well as being part of the main list.

19 June, 2003

I got sent a very interesting article attempting to analyse and explain some of the events and scenes from "The Matrix Reloaded". I attempted to track down the original author to ask him or her a few follow-up questions but the page now seems to have vanished of the face of the web. So, in the interim, I've put a copy of the article Secrets of "The Matrix Reloaded" onto my site here. I'd still very much like to find out who is the original author however.

Been busy over the bank holiday weekend, and Althea was her usual trigger-happy self with the digital camera, so we've got loads and loads of pictures. The first set are from Hever Castle near Tonbridge, and Hastings which we visited last Friday. The second lot are from Chatham Dockyards and the Kent Festival of Steam, which was our destination last Sunday.

31 March, 2003

The misc / blog page was getting large enough that I decided to farm out some of the older posts to an archive.

1 March, 2003

The long-promised complete overhaul of the site design has finally taken place!

As is no doubt evident, the place has an entirely new look and feel, and it should now be completely standards compliant. Of course this means that the site will look better the more your browser obeys the standards: those based on Mozilla Gecko seem to render things the best, with the latest incarnations of Microsoft Internet Explorer and Opera not far behind. However no matter what you're using to view this site it should all be easily navigable and legible -- all you're missing with some of the older browsers is simply extra eye-candy.

11 January, 2003

Well as I've long been threatening, I finally removed the channel listing for ntl:home. As I'm no longer able to receive their service it's become increasingly difficult to keep up with their channels and content, and so I've decided to remove the entire page rather than allowing it to end up hopelessly outdated.

11 November, 2002

Removed the page below, as I found someone else has done a far better job!

8 November, 2002

Started putting together a set of links that I find useful when researching things on the internet.

5 October, 2002

After some frustrating problems trying to find out what sort of router I had been supplied with for my shiny new ADSL connection, I've put up a small page about the default router supplied by F9 to their wires-only customers.

29 August, 2002

I recently received an email containing a Word document of a quite amusing "Staying-Out Late" permission request. Not wanting to put that up here, I decided to take the content (and brush up on my XHTML and CSS at the same time), and turned it into a web page: Staying Out Late Request.

16 July, 2002

Added a page with some images and descriptions of parts of London that deserve to have a wider audience.

19 April, 2002

I'm sure there are legions of people who'll be delighted to learn that seeing as I couldn't find them elsewhere on the web, I've put the lyrics to The Saw Doctors song, "I'd Love to Kiss the Bangles" onto the site!

14 April, 2002

Added a list of ntl: television channels, primarily because I couldn't find a reliable one anywhere else (even the digital spy list is out of date.

13 March, 2002

Well everyone else is doing it so I might as well join in. The other stuff page is being turned into something vaguely approximating a blog. I very much doubt I'll put anything much up on there with any kind of regularity, but if you're the kind of person who enjoys peering into the minutiae of other peoples' thoughts and lives, then be my guest.

15 February, 2002

Put the press release about Chumbawamba's great pro-file-sharing track "Pass It Along" onto the site, as well as the file itself.

12 February, 2002

Added a page about Chickentown.

4 February, 2002

I've started to build up a list of programming problems that I've not been able to (easily) find the solution to elsewhere on the web. With a little bit of luck and help from the search engine spiders it may one day prove useful to someone else.

7 January, 2002

I've created a new PGP key for myself and revoked the old one. Anyone with my public key stored on their keyrings should either update it from the main PGP key servers or download the new one here.

13 November, 2001

Added a couple of pictures to the bikes page and also uploaded my Ixion InSHIT to CSV Perl program.

7 November, 2001

Started putting together a completely unofficial, and probably only useful to myself, archive of interesting posts from the Ixion mailing list.

1 November, 2001

Found a really cheesy picture of me sitting in a caff in Margate during the Spring Bank Holiday earlier this year (oh what an exciting life I lead!) which I've added to the page about me. I've replaced it with a more recent (and I hope slightly more flattering) picture taken in Cambridge, instead.

17 October, 2001

Due to continual moaning from someone (you know who you are, Martin!) about being left out of the loop or some such nonsense, I've added a small section about the #blighty mailing lists. If this means nothing to you now, then rest assured that following the link will do nothing to enlighten you!

17 September, 2001

Added links to DeCSS.zip and css-auth.tar.gz.

7 September, 2001

Added a section about Echelon and data encryption.

20 August, 2001

Added a picture of Althea to the section about her, and put up a few bits and pieces into the Other Stuff section.

27 July, 2001

Redesigned site. That's all that's new so far!
